Talk:Hilldale Club

From BR Bullpen

Team name is incorrect[edit]

The team was only known officially as the Hilldale Club, and never had a nickname. It was never the Hilldale Daisies, the Philadelphia Hilldales, or any other variation. It was referred to a number of nicknames by the press (Clan Darby, for example), and "Daisies" was used on occasion, but never in an official sense. A second, lower-tier and short lived team carried the name "Darby Daisies" (which had been used every now and again on this club, and in the 1940s there was a semi-pro club named the Philadelphia Daisies who played at the same time the Philadelphia Stars were current, but it is inaccurate to use this title. Two of the books cited in this reference (by Larry Lester and Neil Lanctot) are among the most authoritative, and neither lists "Daisies" as a team name. -- Couillaud (talk) 23:10, 25 January 2016 (EST)

Go ahead, you can move the page to Hilldale Club, just keep the Hilldale Daisies redirect given how common the mistake is. It sounds like the "Boston Pilgrims" myth. --Philippe (talk) 04:19, 26 January 2016 (EST)
After all this time, I still don't know how to move pages. Is there a FAQ to cover that? -- Couillaud (talk) 10:49, 1 February 2016 (EST)

At the bottom of the page, there is a list of options - Edit this page, Watch this page, etc. One of those is "Move this page" - --Mischa (talk) 12:11, 1 February 2016 (EST)

I've done the move. You would need to check if many references to the Hilldale Daisies in individual articles need to be corrected as well. --Philippe (talk) 04:31, 2 February 2016 (EST)

All links I could find (some 40+)have been corrected. -- Couillaud (talk) 15:48, 4 February 2016 (EST)
