Talk:Foothill High School

From BR Bullpen

Is Foothill a mountain range or something? Why else are there so many Foothill Highs in CA? - --Mischa (talk) 12:01, 10 October 2013 (EDT)

"The foothills" is sort of a generic term used to describe the edges of the mountain range. People live "up in the foothills", or up at higher elevations than down in the cities or suburbs. --Jeff (talk) 16:35, 10 October 2013 (EDT)

Piedmont is another fancy name for the same thing. --Philippe (talk) 16:37, 10 October 2013 (EDT)

Might be an east vs. west thing. I wouldn't have known piedmont was the same thing. --Jeff (talk) 16:40, 10 October 2013 (EDT)

I can't recall anyone using the term in southwestern PA, though we have plenty of hills (though not necessarily mountains). Is "hollow" a local PA/West Virginia geographical term or do you guys have those out West? - --Mischa (talk) 16:41, 10 October 2013 (EDT)
