Talk:Brian Broderick
In May 2012 he was returned by the Nationals to the Cardinals, which means the Cards had to pay half the price that they were paid when the Nats drafted him. 2 months later the Cards released him. I don't understand why they paid to get him back then released him. They could have just released their claim on him to the Nats for free. Jeff (talk) 17:17, 19 December 2019 (UTC)
Indeed, it's not the greatest use of resources, but then the cost of a Rule V claim is locked at 50,000$ if I remember, so it's peanuts for a major league team to pay half of that. There was probably someone in the Cards' system who still liked him, but when he failed to show much in those two months, that was it. Philippe (talk) 18:07, 19 December 2019 (UTC)
