Biographical Information

Takeshi Sugeta was born in Japan and moved to Brazil at age 17. He had played baseball in Japan and continued playing in Brazil, transitioning to coaching in 1945. He managed the Brazilian national team in the 1963 Pan American Games, when they went 2-6 but beat both Team USA and the Venezuelan national team. His sons all played baseball, Huguiyoski Sugeta being Brazil's Pitcher of the Year five times and Mitsutoshi Sugeta was on the Brazilian national team.
