Biographical Information[edit]
Takashi Nakagawa once led his league in ERA. He debuted with the Mainichi Orions in 1954, going 1-0 with a 3.15 ERA in six games (one start). He had his big year in 1955 at 18-11, 2.08 with a .208 opponent average. He led the Pacific League in ERA by .05. Nakagawa fell to 7-7, 3.02 in 1956 and 1-1, 2.92 in limited action in 1957. He pitched just 7 games, 6 out of the bullpen (1.59 ERA) in 1958 and went 2-3 with a 3.39 ERA in 1959. In 1960, he pitched 27 games in relief and had a 3.19 ERA and .225 opponent average. He retired all three batters he faced in the 1960 Japan Series, in which the Orions were swept by the Taiyo Whales. Nakagawa ended his career in 1961 with a 3-3, 4.47 record.
Overall, Nakagawa went 32-25 with a 2.84 ERA in 210 career games (51 starts) in Nippon Pro Baseball.
