Biographical Information[edit]
Syed Muhammad Shah has been on the Pakistani national team as has his twin brother Syed Ali Shah and his father Syed Fakhar Ali Shah. His grandfather Syed Khawar Shah ran the Pakistan Federation Baseball & Softball. [1]
At age 11, he was the starting catcher and leadoff hitter for Pakistan in the 2015 U15 Asian Championship, hitting in the heart of the order. [2] In the 2016 U12 Asian Championship, he hit in the heart of the order. [3] He was one of several Pakistani players to be listed on the team's roster for the 2018 Asian Games only to vanish from the rosters listed in the Final Report without appearing in a game. [4]
Shah won the Best Hitter Award in the 2019 U15 Asian Championship, earning him a college scholarship to Taiwan, the first Pakistani baseball player to win a full college scholarship. [5] He was on Pakistan's announced roster for the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers before that was one of the first baseball events to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [6]
When the WBC Qualifier was held in 2022, he caught the first inning against Nicaragua but was replaced by Umair Imdad Bhatti before he could bat. [7]
