Biographical Information[edit]

Seong-ok Cho played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 12 years.

Cho played for the South Korean national team in the 1982 Amateur World Series (when they won their first world title), 1983 Asian Championship and 1983 Intercontinental Cup. The Lotte Giants selected him in the 1984 KBO draft, and he hit .218/.325/.265 in his first year. Cho improved to .251/.327/.338 in 1985, then he played 105 games with a .253/.306/.311 batting line in 1986. He was Lotte's 4th outfielder in 1987 with a .238/.326/.262 batting line, then he hit .256/.285/.302 in 72 games in 1988. Cho played more than 100 games again in 1989, and his batting line was .258/.355/.331.

The Busan native slumped to .236/.329/.312 in 1990, and he missed most of the 1991 season due to injuries. Cho came back in 1992, and he hit .276/.350/.350 in 105 appearances. He had a .268/.315/.309 batting line in 1993, but he struggled in 1994 as his batting line fell to .211/.275/.255. Cho only played 28 games with the big club in 1995, then he announced his retirement. He was the fielding coach of the Giants from 1996 to 1997, then he coached Busan High School from 1998 to 2006 and Dong-Eui University from 2007 to 2009. He also managed South Korea in the 2000 World Junior Championships.

Overall, Cho hit .248/.324/.307 with 532 hits in 12 seasons in the KBO.
