Biographical Information[edit]

Steven Tinoco has played in the minors.

Amateur Career[edit]

Tinoco hit .391 as a high school junior and .402 as a senior. He batted .326 as a freshman at Long Beach State, .291 as a sophomore and .343/.379/.543 as a junior. His junior year, he had a 5-for-5 day with three home runs against South Carolina. Returning as a senior, he batted .348/.402/.424 with 45 RBI in 55 games. He finished 11th in school history with 116 RBI, one behind Troy Tulowitzki. The Tampa Bay Rays took him in the 34th round of the 2010 amateur draft, having picked teammate Jake Thompson a day prior. The scout was Robbie Moen.

Minors[edit]

Tinoco made his pro debut that summer with the Hudson Valley Renegades. Alternating between left field and first base, he batted .274/.370/.332 and tied for second in the New York-Penn League with 11 HBP. He hit .277/.361/.325 for the 2011 Bowling Green Hot Rods, with only one home run. He played both corner infield spots and both corner outfield positions. With the 2012 Charlotte Stone Crabs, the utility man added second base and pitcher (3 R in 4 IP) to his resume; his batting line was .281/.318/.323. He hit .245/.288/.245 in 13 games for Charlotte to open 2013 then was promoted to the Montgomery Biscuits.
