Biographical Information[edit]

Steven Chambers has pitched in Australia and the Czech Republic.

Chambers debuted with the Brisbane Bandits in the 2010-2011 Australian Baseball League (9 H, 6 R in 4 IP). He was 5-3 with two saves and a 3.24 ERA for Technika Brno in the 2011 Extraliga. He was 7th in ERA (between Matej Hušek and Petr Minařík) and 4th in strikeouts (90, between former major leaguers Roger Deago and Pat Ahearne). Back in Australia, he was 0-2 with a 2.67 ERA for the Bandits in 2011-2012.

The right-hander saw limited work with Brisbane in 2012-2013 (3 R, ER in 5 2/3 IP) and was released early in 2013-2014 (0 R in 4 IP). Picked up by the Canberra Cavalry, he was 1-4 with a 5.84 ERA the rest of the winter. He returned to the Extraliga for 2014, going 3-1 with a 4.35 ERA for Technika Brno. Back with Brisbane for 2014-2015, he struggled (2-3, 10.32 ERA, 2.07 WHIP).

Given his track record to that point, he must have turned heads by becoming the Adelaide Bite's ace in 2015-2016, going 8-1 with a 3.66 ERA. He tied Jason Jarvis for the ABL lead in wins and was 8th with 56 strikeouts (between Yasuo Sano and Ryan Searle. He struggled in the ABL finals, serving up the losing homer to postseason MVP Donald Lutz, but made the Australian national team roster for the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He did not get into a game as Australia only used half their 14 pitchers in sweeping all three games to win a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
