Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Steve Wilson was signed as a 4th round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the Texas Rangers and scout Jack Hays. Wilson played for Team Canada in the 1983 Intercontinental Cup, 1983 Pan American Games and 1984 Olympics.
Wilson later was Pacific Rim scouting director for the Chicago Cubs. Among those he helped sign were Jae-hoon Ha, Hak-ju Lee, Chang-yong Lim, Kyung-min Na, Pin-Chieh Chen, Jesse Hodges, Dae-Eun Rhee and Ryan Searle.
His son Tyler Wilson was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 8th round of the 2024 Amateur Draft.
