Biographical Information[edit]

Starling Peralta has pitched in the minors.

Peralta signed with the Chicago Cubs in May 2008; the scout was Jose Serra. He debuted that summer with the DSL Cubs, going 4-4 but with a 6.92 ERA, .314 opponent average and 24 walks in 40 1/3 IP. He had a 1-3, 4.10 record for the 2009 DSL Cubs. He split 2010 between the DSL Cubs 1 and DSL Cubs 2, going 1-4 with a 3.76 ERA and striking out 67 in 67 innings. In '11, the tall righty pitched for the AZL Cubs (2-1, 3.46, 18 K in 13 IP) and Peoria Chiefs (3-5, 5.68, .290 opponent average, 26 BB in 57 IP). He made good progress with the 2012 Chiefs, going 5-8 with a 3.44 ERA and .217 opponent average, though control remained an issue (42 BB in 99 1/3 IP). He was also timed at 96 mph.

Peralta was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 9th selection of the 2012 Rule V Draft.
