Biographical Information[edit]

Stan Wall pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1975-1977, appearing in 66 games. The team finished well over .500 each year, going to the 1977 World Series in Wall's last year (Stan's last appearance was in July). He got the most work in 1976, a year in which he appeared in more games in relief than anyone on the team other than Charlie Hough.

Stan started in the minors at age 18 in 1969. In his first two minor league seasons, he went 8-4 and 11-6. Then he started the first of six seasons with Albuquerque (known as the Dukes during most of his years with them). Minor league teammates during his time in Albuquerque included many familiar names from Los Angeles Dodgers teams of the 1970s: Ron Cey, Tom Paciorek, Doug Rau, Davey Lopes, Joe Ferguson, and others.

When he broke into the majors at age 24, he was two years younger than teammate Steve Garvey.

In 2004, an ESPN article picked the "most obscure but memorable Dodger" [1]. Wall did not win the contest, but was part of a long list of nominees.
