Biographical Information[edit]
A biography of Sled Allen's son Terry says that Terry was born when Sled was 60. Sled was a player-manager in the Texas League after his big league days, and also promoted professional wrestling and music events. He brought in acts like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Hank Williams. Sled's wife was a pianist, and both Sled and his wife were more open to integration than most Texans.
Allen played for Houston from 1911-1916.
