Biographical Information[edit]

"Hunter Hill's ability as a sacrifice hitter is . . . greatly in evidence, and truly remarkable. . . Only two players in the League, Keeler and George Davis, sacrificed oftener. . . and Hill . . . played in many less games than they . . ." - from the December 23, 1905 issue of Sporting Life

Hunter Hill played in the majors from 1903 to 1905, serving as a regular. He was in 86 games for the St. Louis Browns in 1903, appeared in 58 games for the same team in 1904 before being traded in July, and then played in 77 games for the Washington Senators also in 1904. He finished up with 104 games for the Senators in 1905. He was primarily a third baseman.

Hill had previously been a star for the 1902 Corsicana Oil Citys, one of the great minor teams which went 87-23. Records are incomplete, but Hill hit around .360 in the portion of the season for which records have been found. Nig Clarke was a teammate.

After his major league days Hill played for years in the Eastern League and the Texas League, and managed for seven seasons in the Texas League.
