Biographical Information

Kyle "Skinny" Graham is one of two players named Skinny Graham to have played in the major leagues. He was a pitcher with the Boston Braves from 1924 to 1926 and the Detroit Tigers in 1929. The other one, Arthur "Skinny" Graham, played for the Boston Red Sox of the American League ten years later.

In Kyle's busiest year, he started 23 games and relieved in 11 for the 1925 Braves under player-manager Dave Bancroft. His 23 starts were the third-most on the team, behind Johnny Cooney and Jesse Barnes. Kyle's ERA of 4.41 was very close to the team ERA of 4.39. At age 25, Kyle was nine years younger than Bancroft.

When he came to the 1929 Tigers, his ERA of 5.57 wasn't very impressive, but it was the heart of a lively ball era, and the team average that year was 4.96. He spent most of 1927-29 with the Seattle Indians, and 1930 with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Through 2019, he is the only major leaguer born in Oak Grove, AL, a small town south of Birmingham, AL.
