Biographical Information[edit]

Shuruendy Valeriano has pitched in the minors and for the Dutch national team.

Valeriano was signed by Tampa Bay Rays scout Chairon Isenia in September 2017. [1] He was 6-3 with five saves and a 2.38 ERA in 18 games for the 2018 DSL Rays 1, with a 1.00 WHIP. He tied for 8th in the Dominican Summer League in victories. He had a 4-2, 3.27 record with four saves for the 2019 DSL Rays 2, striking out 44 in 33 innings.

He pitched once for the Netherlands in the 2019 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier. Against South Africa, he relieved Mike Bolsenbroek in the 6th with a 7-1 lead. He got Kyle Botha on a fly, then walked Jonathan Phillips, whiffed Brandon Bouillon and retired Dayle Feldtman. Darren Boltman singled to open the 7th but the right-hander recovered to strike out the next three batters: Rowan Ebersohn, Andrew Norman and Benjamin Smith. He was relieved by former major leaguer Shairon Martis. [2]

Returning to his native Curaçao, he pitched for the Royal Scorpions and Santa Maria Pirates. [3]
