Biographical Information[edit]

Shotaro Kasahara pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and the CPBL.

Kasahara was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the fourth round of the 2016 NPB draft, and he was 1-3 with a 3.14 in 2017. He entered the rotation in 2018, and he was 6-4 with a 4.14 ERA. He also represented Japan in the 2018 Nichi-Bei Series, and he pitched 4 2/3 shutout innings in Game ‎6. However, his ERA rose to 5.71 in 8 starts in 2019, and he mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues for the next three seasons. He only started 8 games combined with the big club. The Yokohama BayStars selected him in the 2022 NPB Active draft, but he only started one game for them in 2023, and he was released.

The newly-founded TSG Hawks of the CPBL then signed him, and Kasahara debuted on April 5. He was named the starter in their first game in their homefield - the Cheng Ching Lake Baseball Stadium. Kasahara pitched 6 shutout innings against the Fubon Guardians, and he got the win over Brandon Brennan. That was obviously the first homefield win for the Hawks.
