Biographical Information[edit]

Shi-Hsing Lo was a top infielder in the first few years of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.

Lo was supposed to play for Taiwan in the 1988 Baseball World Cup and 1988 Olympics but was cut from the team before the tournaments. After serving in the Air Force, Lo joined the Wei Chuan Dragons when the CPBL opened for play in 1990; he was already 27 when pro baseball came to Taiwan. In 1990, Lo batted .315/.350/.477 with 5 homers. The next year, he hit .307/.398/.482 and won the first CPBL Best Nine award at second base. In 1992, he hit .278/.395/.556 and smacked 23 home runs. He was one home run behind league leader Chung-Chiu Lin and made the Best Nine once again.

The Hualien County native hit .264/.323/.411 in 1993, when Chung-Yi Huang surpassed him as the league's premier second sacker. On April 9, he got the 10,000th hit in CPBL history. In 1994, Shi-Hsing batted .269/.325/.439. During 1995, his batting line was .307/.376/.463 with 10 homers; he won his third and final Best Nine spot. In 1996, he hit .284/.354/.467. The next season, he hit .300/.378/.432 with 5 homers.

Lo became the director of Taiwan's player's union around this time. In 1998, he hit just .195/.285/.212 for the Taiwan Major League's Taichung Agan; at age 35, his best days were clearly behind him. He also spent part of the year with the Taipei Gida and batted .254 and slugged .356. He hit .202/.256/.286 for the Chianan Luka in the 1999 TML. In 2000, he hit .205/.294/.250 to end his career.

Overall, Lo hit .274/.348/.430 with 737 hits, 127 doubles and 91 homers in 11 seasons in the CPBL.
