Biographical Information[edit]

Shao-Pai Lan played in the CPBL for 7 years. His cousin is former CPBL infielder Shao-Wen Lan.

Lan was drafted by the Sinon Bulls in the third round of the 2008 CPBL Draft, and he spent his rookie season in the CPBL minor league.[1] He hit .296/.368/.455 with a league-leading 17 doubles in 2009, so he earned a spot with the big club in 2010; he hit .275/.306/.325 in 37 games. Lan was 0-for-1 in 2010 Taiwan Series Game 3, and the Bulls were swept by the Brother Elephants. [2]

The 2011 season was Lan's career year. He was named as a starter in the 2011 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-2. Lan ended up hitting .233/.301/.314 with 3 homers in this season. He had a .250/.343/.291 batting line in 2012, then slumped to .221/.295/.253 in 2013. Since the Bulls already had talented infielders like Kai-Lun Chen, Lan didn't have many chances. He played 44 games with a .234/.327/.277 batting line in 2014, then hit .221/.273/.240 in 63 games in 2015. Lan only had 21 appearances in 2016 and he missed the 2016 Taiwan Series. Although his batting line was .372/.426/.419 this year, Lan still decided to retire.

Overall, Lan hit .243/.313/.292 with 218 hits in 7 seasons in CPBL.
