Jang was drafted by the Doosan Bears in the 4th round of the 2013 KBO draft, and he spent his first three seasons in the minors. He then spent his 2016 and 2017 seasons in the military, and he represented Korea in the 2017 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. Kim was Seung-taek Han's backup, and he didn't get a single at-bat in the entire event. He made his KBO debut in 2018, but he was the third catcher of the Bears, so he only got 78 appearances combined from 2018 to 2020. When Sei-hyok Park was injured in 2021, Jang was named their starting catcher, and he hit .232/.332/.322 in 92 games. He had a .208/.274/.240 batting line in 2022, then his batting line fell to .158/.235/.230 in 2023. He and other 7 Bears players were then involved in a drug scandal, and he was suspended for a year.
