Biographical Information[edit]

Seth Mejias-Brean came to the majors as a 28-year-old rookie in September of 2019 with the San Diego Padres and did pretty well, slugging .500 in 30 at-bats. Most of his appearances were as a pinch-hitter. These turned out to be his only career games, however.

Seth was born in Arizona, and attended high school and college in the same state. He and Joey Rickard, Rob Refsnyder and Alex Mejia were all drafted out of the University of Arizona in the 2012 amateur draft.

Seth was in the Cincinnati Reds organization for most of his minor league time, then spent a couple of years in the Seattle Mariners organization and afterwards came to the Padres in 2019. He hit over .300 in the lower minors in 2012 and 2013, but then stayed under .300 until 2019, when he posted a line of .316/.371/.455 with the El Paso Chihuahuas. After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled by the Coronavirus pandemic, Mejias-Brean returned for a final season in 2021 in the Baltimore Orioles minor league system.

In 2022 Mejias-Brean began his post-playing career as a first base coach with the Tacoma Rainiers. He then became hitting coach of the Modesto Nuts in 2023 and Everett AquaSox in 2024.
