Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Sergio Pedroza was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Tim Kelly and made his pro debut that summer with the Ogden Raptors, hitting .500 with 4 home runs and 18 RBIs in 12 games there. He was then promoted to the Columbus Catfish and hit .207 with 12 homers and 30 RBIs in 49 games with them. He opened the 2006 campaign back with the Catfish and hit .281 with 21 homers, 24 doubles, and 75 RBIs before earning a promotion to the Vero Beach Dodgers in July. After just two weeks with Vero Beach, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays along with Joel Guzman for Julio Lugo. He then joined the Visalia Oaks and reached base safely in 24 of 29 games there.

In 2007, Perdoza spent the entire regular season with the Vero Beach Devil Rays, hitting .286 with 22 home runs and 70 RBIs. He then joined the AA Montgomery Biscuits for the playoffs and hit the game-winning home run in the championship series against the Huntsville Stars as the Biscuits captured the Southern League crown.
