Biographical Information[edit]
Seong-moo Hong has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.
He won Bronze in the 2012 Asian Championship and was the only amateur on the South Korean team that won Gold in the 2014 Asian Games. He started one game, throwing four innings against Hong Kong, allowing two hits and no walks or runs while fanning three before former major leaguer Jung-keun Bong relieved. South Korea won the Gold, exempting Hong from the military service that was otherwise mandatory.
He was picked by the expansion kt Wiz with one of their special picks prior to the 2015 KBO draft. He was 0-1 with a 4.82 ERA in 23 games as a rookie in 2015 and allowed six runs (four earned) in nine innings in 2016. He was hit harder in 2017 (0-1, 12.79 in 7 G) and did not pitch in 2018. He was then dealt to the NC Dinos for Min-kook Kang.
Hong had a 6.28 ERA and a 1.88 WHIP in 15 outings for the 2019 Dinos.
