Biographical Information[edit]
Seong-bin Hwang has played in the KBO and for the South Korean national team.
In the 2019 Asian Championship, he hit leadoff sometimes and played right and center for South Korea. He hit .417/.500/.500 with 3 runs and 2 steals in 3 games. Despite not being a full-time player, he joined Nan Du and Chih-Yu Tsai on the All-Star outfield. [1] He was a 5th-round pick of the Lotte Giants in the 2020 KBO draft. [2] As a rookie in 2022, he hit a fine .294/.341/.366 though he was 10-for-22 in steal attempts. He led in caught stealing, one ahead of Mike Tauchman. His playing time and production fell in 2023 as he batted .212/.268/.265.
Hwang produced at a .320/.375/.437 clip in 2024 with 94 runs, 8 triples and 51 steals in 61 tries, splitting time between center and left. He was 8th in runs (between Soo-bin Jung and Jeong Choi), trailed only Do-yeong Kim in triples and was third in swipes (after Soo-haeng Jo and Jung).
