Biographical Information[edit]

Seiichi Tarui pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Tarui was signed by the Tokyu Flyers in 1950, and he was 5-7 with a 4.80 ERA in his rookie year. He went 4-9 with a 3.46 ERA in 1951, and he was 9-14 with a 3.48 ERA in 1952. Tarui led the Pacific League with 18 homers allowed, and he was 6th in losses (between Yoshiharu Ogawa and Toshiaki Ogata). He then had a 3.13 ERA in 35 appearances in 1953, and he was 5-6 with a 3.55 ERA in 1954. Tarui's ERA was 3.18 with a 4-6 record in 1955, and he went 2-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 1956. He only pitched one game in 1957, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Tarui was 35-49 with a 3.57 ERA, struck out 267 and pitched 856 innings in 8 years in NPB.
