Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Scott Snodgress began playing in the Chicago White Sox minor league system in 2011.

Snodgress was the first freshman starting pitcher on the high school varsity in Yucapia High history. He was 5-3 with a save, 2.29 ERA and 83 K in 53 IP as a high school senior. As a college freshman at Stanford, he was 1-3 with a save and a 5.85 ERA. He had a 2.93 ERA for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Summer League. The next year, he had a 1-2, 5.59 record with 38 strikeouts and 29 walks in 37 innings. He had a 0-2, 3.97 record with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League. He improved slightly as a junior (2-2, 4.94, 38 K in 31 IP; 28 BB). He was taken in the 5th round of that year's draft by the Chicago White Sox, between Sam Gaviglio and Mookie Betts, and was signed by scout Adam Virchis.

Pitching for the Great Falls White Sox in 2011, Snodgress was 3-3 with a 3.34 ERA in 16 games (12 starts), striking out 68 batters while walking only 17 in 59 1/3 innings. Had he qualified, he would have finished second to Taylor Siemens in ERA in the Pioneer League. His first win was an excellent one; he worked six perfect innings, fanning nine, against the Casper Ghosts; Blake Drake relieved and blew the perfect game with a hit batsmen but he and Joe Dvorsky completed the no-hitter unscathed. Baseball America rated him as the league's #14 prospect, between Nick Mutz and David Goforth. He was named a Baseball America Rookie All-Star.

In 2012, he was 7-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 27 starts split between the Kannapolis Intimidators (3-3, 3.64) and the Winston-Salem Dash (4-0, 1.50) - and was named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. He led White Sox farmhands with 128 strikeouts, 11 ahead of Charles Shirek. He also tied Jefferson Olacio for third in walks (64), though. In 2013, he went 11-11 with a 4.70 ERA in 26 starts for the Birmingham Barons. He tied for 5th in the chain in wins and tied for 4th in losses.

Prior to 2014, MLB.com ranked him the 12th-best prospect in the White Sox system. He began the year with Birmingham.
