Biographical Information[edit]

Scott Lonergan pitched two years in Organized Baseball.

Lonergan had a 1.10 ERA and hit .380 as a high school senior. The San Diego Padres took him in the 39th round of the 2002 amateur draft but did not sign him. He redshirted as a college freshman at Santa Clara then was 1-1 in 21 games as a sophomore. He went 2-0 with a save and a 3.67 ERA as a junior. Transferring to Rice, he sat out the 2006 season. He had a 4-0, 3.16 record in 2007.

The Boston Red Sox chose Lonergan in the 37th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He pitched for their Lowell Spinners affiliate (1-1, 4.79 in 14 G( and the Pawtucket Red Sox (4 R in 4 1/3 IP). He split 2008 between the GCL Red Sox (1 R in 3 IP), Lowell (7 R in 2 IP) and the Lancaster JetHawks (10 R in 12 1/3 IP).

Lonergan signed with the Regensburg Legionäre for the start of 2009 with plans of switching to the Golden Baseball League when that circuit began play. Lonergan debuted in the Bundesliga on April 13, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) in 9 innings as Regensburg edged the Heidenheim Heideköpfe 6-5; opposing Lonergan on the hill was former major leaguer Dusty Bergman. With the Long Beach Armada of the GBL that year, he went 5-6 with a 5.94 ERA in 15 games (14 starts).
