Biographical Information

Scott Harp has been a college coach, following in the footsteps of his father, Jim Harp.

Scott played two years for his father at Dallas Baptist, setting several school records and leading the NAIA with 107 hits one year to win All-American honors. He helped the team go 62-10 and make it to the 1994 NAIA College World Series. The Kansas City Royals took him in the 25th round of the 1996 amateur draft, 18 rounds after teammate Scott Mullen. Harp played one year as a pro, hitting .275/.363/.376 with 31 runs in 55 games for the '96 Spokane Indians. He stole 6 bases in 7 tries. He fielded .895 in 21 games at 2B and 1.000 in 19 games in the outfield. He backed up Kendrick Moore at 2B, Brandon Berger in LF and Carlos Beltran in CF.

Harp assisted his father at DBU in 1997 and then was at Waxahachie High School in '98. He later became a coach at North Central Texas College, serving as hitting coach from 1999-2004 and then becoming head coach in 2005. He stepped down as coach after the 2015 season, although he continues to teach History at the school (as of 2024). He opened up D-BAT Denton, a Baseball and Softball training facility in Denton, TX.
