Biographical Information[edit]

Sasagi Sánchez has pitched as high as AAA.

He debuted with the 2014 Acereros de Monclova, going 3-2 with a 5.05 ERA in 34 appearances. With his hometown Venados de Mazatlán that winter, he allowed six runs in five innings. He was 1-2 with a 4.09 ERA for the '15 Acereros and did not pitch in the winter. During 2016, he had a 2-6, 4.98 record as a swingman for Monclova; in the winter, he struggled again (0-1, 6.14 in 14 G).

Sánchez allowed one run in three innings for Monclova to open 2017 then was dealt to the Pericos de Puebla with Juan Avila for Hector Galvan, Henry Garcia, Jaime Lugo, Julio Felix, Oscar Sanay, Rogelio Bernal and Sergio Pérez. [1] He struggled with his new team, giving up 13 hits and 10 runs 99 earned) in 5 1/3 IP, then was loaned to the Olmecas de Tabasco, where he was much sharper (2-2, 2.93 in 36 G).

After a winter off, he was 1-2 with a 2.80 ERA for Puebla in the spring season of 2018 (when the Mexican League went to a two-season year). He fell to 1-3, 4.00 in the fall season. In the winter, he had a save and a 2.45 ERA in eight games for the Tomateros de Culiacán. He was back with Puebla for 2019 and was 4-3 with a save and a 7.51 ERA in 59 games. He tied Román Méndez, Jesus Castillo and Andrés Ávila for 8th in the LMB in games pitched. In the winter, he was superb for the Tomateros (2-0, Sv, 1.38 in 28 G). He allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings in the 2020 Caribbean Series, striking out three. Puebla traded him back to the Acereros with Bernardo Heras and Sergio Pérez for Issmael Salas and Mark Serrano. The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. He was very sharp for the 2020-2021 Tomateros (2-1, Sv, 0.95 in 21 G). He then pitched one shutout inning in the 2021 Caribbean Series, though two of four batters he faced got hits. The Acereros traded him to the Diablos Rojos del México for Francisco Ríos. [3]
