Sape Wagenaar has played in the Hoofdklasse.
Wagenaar debuted with DOOR Neptunus in 2005, going 6 for 32 with two triples and two walks. Backing up Maikel Benner at catcher, he allowed 9 steals in 11 tries. He did not appear in the 2005 Holland Series. In 2006, the 20-year-old was again 6 for 32, this time with two doubles and two walks. He gunned down four of five base thieves while backing up Johnny Balentina. In 2007, Sape moved to Sparta/Feyenoord and threw out 19 of 37 attempted base-stealers while hitting .229/.347/.277 as a starter.
Wagenaar was 11 for 62 with 8 walks and 16 opponent steals in 21 tries in 2008 while again moving to the bench. He was just 4 for 24 with a double in 2009. A starter again in 2010, he batted .222/.313/.333 but tied Dwayne Kemp for the league lead with five triples. He allowed 18 steals in 29 tries, tying Michel Korzeniewski and Mark Duursma for the lead in runners caught.
