Samoa
Samoa, known until 1997 as Western Samoa, is a Polynesian island country located in the Pacific Ocean, about 2,000 miles north-northeast of New Zealand. It is not to be confused with American Samoa, which is part of the same island group. The country hosted the 2007 South Pacific Games, when they first fielded a baseball team. Future major leaguer Justin Sterner spent two years here on a church mission between high school and college.
