Biographical Information[edit]
Sahan Avishka has played for the Sri Lankan national team.
Avishka was with Sri Lanka for the 2017 Asian Championship, their first Asian Championship. He went 2 for 9 with a run and a RBI while fielding .800. [1] He then played for them in their first Asian Games, the 2018 Asian Games. In the opener, he started at second base, hitting 9th. He grounded out his first at-bat, against Cola Phouangkeo, but later hit a three-run triple off Phithak Hopkhop. He was 1 for 5 and had a putout and an assist. [2] The next day, he drove in two of their three runs in a loss to Thailand. He twice singled off Kevin Kawin Irwin to plate Hena Kanakanamge Kasthuri Akala Ranasinghe and then was retired by Sakai Phraechai his last trip up. He had a putout, assist and error. [3] He was second in the preliminary round in RBI, one behind Jack Daru. [4]
In the 2019 Asian Championship, he moved to catcher. He had one of Sri Lanka's two hits off Yasuaki Ojima of Japan in the opener. He finished at .250/.250/.250 with one run in four games, handling 15 chances error-free. [5]
