Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Ryan Strausborger began playing in the Texas Rangers minor league system in 2010. He was taken by the club in the 16th round of the 2010 amateur draft.

A speedster, Strausborger stole 21, 31, 25 and 28 bases in his first four seasons, respectively. In 2011, he was a Carolina League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star, as well as an MiLB.com Organization All-Star, after hitting .270/.347/.416 with 29 doubles and 71 runs scored - in addition to his 31 steals - in 126 games for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. In 2012 and 2013, he played for the Frisco RoughRiders of the AA Texas League, playing over 100 games both years.

He began 2014 with the Triple-A Round Rock Express, his first foray into Triple-A, but was demoted back to Frisco in May, staying there for 8 games during which he hit .417. With Round Rock, his batting line was .258/.321/.382 in 88 games. He returned to Round Rock in 2015 and did much better, as he had exceeded most of his previous year's totals by the end of July. In 86 games, he hit .278 with 10 homers and 34 RBIs to earn a call-up to the parent Rangers. In his debut on August 5th, he started in right field and batted second against the Houston Astros, going 0 for 2 with a run scored and a sacrifice hit in a 4-3 win.
