Biographical Information[edit]

Ryan Brnardic played in the minors and for the Croatian national team.

Brnardic was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 30th round of the 1999 amateur draft out of high school. He was 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA for Croatia in the 2001 European Championship, walking 9 in 4 1/3 IP and hit .227/.357/.364 with six runs in seven games. Playing first base often, he fielded .973. He led Croatia with five walks drawn, tied Tomislav Ćurković and Dan Vardijan for the team lead in runs and tied them for the team lead with one homer. His two balks tied Anton Shirokiy and Kerry Fitzgerald for the event lead.

Ryan was taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the 31st round of the 2003 amateur draft. He was 1-1 with a save and a 4.64 ERA for the 2003 GCL Orioles and 3-1, 3.67 with a save for the 2004 Bluefield Orioles. He then moved on to the independent leagues. In '05, he was 1-1 with a save and a 5.92 ERA for the Winnipeg Goldeyes, walking 18 in 24 1/3 IP.

Brnardic was 0-1 with a 6.52 ERA for the 2006 Rockford Riverhawks. He remained with them for 2007 (3.15 ERA in 26 G; no decisions) and 2008 (15 R, 6 ER in 6 2/3 IP). He was 5-4 with 3 saves and a 5.97 ERA in 99 games as a pro (three starts). He walked 87 in 147 2/3 IP and fanned 106.
