Biographical Information[edit]

Kerry Fitzgerald had a long career in Sweden.

In the 1997 European Championship, he had a 3.40 ERA in three outings for the Swedish national team. [1] He allowed two runs in seven in the 1999 European Championship; his 7 whiffs were second on the team, two behind Rickard Ljung. [2] He was 47 years old by the 2001 European Championship, 13 years older than Sweden's next-oldest player, Karl Knutsson. He was 0-2 with a 8.74 ERA, still better than the team mark of 8.79. [3]

His career was by no means over. He hit a homer in 2012 at age 58 for Göteborg. [4] In 2014, the 60-year-old was 0-2 with a 5.00 ERA for the Sölvesborg Firehawks, finally ending his career. He had gone 12-12 from 2009-2014, some of that time coming in the Swedish minors. [5]
