Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Ryan Barba played college ball at the University of New Mexico. After college he joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization and played in their minor league system from 2006-2007. Barba spent 2008 playing for the Yuma Scorpions in the independent Golden Baseball League. He returned to affiliated ball in 2009 with the Atlanta Braves and played in their minor league system for two years. Overall, Barba hit .205/.260/.272 in his four minor league seasons. After his playing career ended, Barba returned to his alma mater to begin his coaching career. He was an assistant coach for the Lobos in 2011-2012.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hired Barba as a hitting coach for the AZL Angels in 2013. Thereafter, he climbed the minor league ladder one rung per year. Barba was the hitting coach for the Orem Owlz in 2014, the Burlington (IA) Bees in 2015, the Inland Empire 66ers in 2016, and the Mobile BayBears in 2017. He returned to Inland Empire in 2018 and managed the team for two seasons. The Angels promoted Barba in 2020 to Minor League Assistant Field Coordinator, a role he repeated in 2021.

In 2022 Barba moved to the San Diego Padres organization as the team's Minor League Infield Coordinator. The next year he retained this position while simultaneously serving as the Assistant Field Coordinator. Barba finally reached the major leagues in 2024 when the Padres named him the team's Major League Field Coordinator.

Barba left the Padres after the 2024 season and joined the St. Louis Cardinals in 2025 as their Minor League Field Coordinator.
