Biographical Information[edit]
Russell Goetz was an umpire in the Georgia State League (1955-1956), Carolina League (1957-1958), South Atlantic League (1959-1961), and Pacific Coast League (1962-1967). He was then an American League umpire from 1968 to 1983.
He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean War and was actually deployed in Korea and China, earning service medals. He attended the Bill McGowan umpiring school in San Diego, CA following his discharge.
