Biographical Information[edit]
Roy Weatherly played ten seasons in the big leagues, mostly with the Cleveland Indians. After being traded to the New York Yankees, he appeared with them in the 1943 World Series.
Weatherly was mostly a center fielder although he started as a right fielder in the majors and also had one season where he appeared more in left field. The Indians were a steadily improving team from 1936-1940.
Roy started his minor league career in 1934, hitting .346 for the Opelousas Indians in the Evangeline League. Beginning in 1946, he played several years for the Indianapolis Indians and then was with other teams through 1954, with a brief appearance in 1958. He was back up in the majors with the New York Giants in 1950.
Weatherly entered the Army in April 1944 and was discharged in April 1946.
