Biographical Information[edit]
Roy Blake was a top pitcher in Panama in the 1970s. He was noted for an especially potent slider.
Blake was the first hurlers to throw two no-hitters in Panama, doing so in 1974 and 1978. He was 21-4 in Panamanian championship play and led the league in ERA (0.34) in 1971.
Roy pitched for the Panamanian national team in the 1969 Amateur World Series, 1970 Central American and Caribbean Games, 1970 Bolivarian Games (Bronze Medal), 1971 Amateur World Series (0.59 ERA, 10th in the event), 1972 Amateur World Series, 1973 Bolivarian Games (Bronze) and 1973 FIBA Amateur World Series. He had a 6-6, 2.78 record in the Amateur World Series, including wins over Team Canada and the Dominican national team.
He later was a Little League coach.
