Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Rossmel Perez began his professional career in 2006 at 16 years old. He was signed by Arizona Diamondbacks scout Miguel Nava on January 15 of that year.

Not an offensively-inclined athlete, Perez did bat .306/.469/.360 in 39 games for the DSL Diamondbacks in 2007. He remained in the Diamondbacks system through 2013, though he became a free agent in November of that year. The Cincinnati Reds signed him for 2014 and he reached Triple A for the first time that year, hitting .214/.267/.250 in 28 at-bats for the Louisville Bats. In total, he batted .321/.379/.439 that year, having spent the majority of the season at Double A. The Baltimore Orioles signed him for 2015 and he played at both Double A and Triple A. He joined the independent ranks for 2016.

Perez was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2011 and 2015. Noted for his eye at the plate, he had more career walks than strikeouts through 2015. He has also spent many winters in the Venezuelan Winter League.
