Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Ross Hopkins was a 40th round selection by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2007 amateur draft, but chose to attend college instead of signing. He hit .258 in 32 games as a sophomore for Rutgers University in 2009. He was not drafted after college and never played professional baseball.

He is better known as a member of a prominent scouting family. His father, Ron Hopkins, was a long-time scout who rose to the rank of scouting director, while his sister, Amanda Hopkins, was the first full-time female scout working for a major league team since the 1950s when she was hired by the Seattle Mariners in 2015.
