Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Ronny Rodriguez began his professional career in 2011. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2016.

Signed by the Cleveland Indians, Rodriguez began his professional career in Single A ball and, by his second campaign, 2012, was selected to play in the prestigious Arizona Fall League.

Gifted with decent power and speed, Rodriguez hit 11 home runs with 10 stolen bases his first season, the slugged 19 homers in 2012. In 2013, he had 12 steals and between 2015 and 2016, he combined to hit 21 home runs with 88 RBI and 92 runs scored.

He was a Carolina League Post-Season All-Star in 2012. Going into 2013, Baseball America ranked him the Indians' #9 prospect; going into 2014, he was ranked #7. He hit only .150/.143/.200 for the Dominican national team in the 2015 Pan American Games but played error-free defense at short. He started at short in the 2015 Premier 12 as well, batting .400/.375/.600 with four RBI in five games, homering off Yasuhiro Ogawa of Japan and fielding .952. He was the All-Star utility man in the 2017 IL.

He became a free agent after the 2017 season and signed with the Detroit Tigers for 2018. He began the season in AAA with the Toledo Mud Hens. He was hitting .318 with 14 doubles and 8 homers after 48 games, and the Tigers had to cell him up before the end of May or risk losing him to free agency, as he had an op-out clause in his contract he was not called up by June 1st. He thus made his major league debut on May 31st starting at second base against the Los Angeles Angels and singled in his first at-bat on his way to going 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 6-2 win.

He is a rapper who performs in the Dominican Republic under the name "El Felino" (the cat/the feline).
