Rogers Reds

From BR Bullpen

In 1938 the Cincinnati Reds had an affiliate in the Arkansas-Missouri League locale of Rogers, AR as the Rogers Reds replaced the independent Rogers Lions there. The team finished fourth (63-54) of six teams and had one All-Star, 1B Cyril "Butch" Moran. Moran hit .392/~.457/.719 with 107 runs, 114 RBI, 43 doubles, 12 triples and 22 homers in 106 games. Rogers led the league in average, total bases (292), doubles, homers and presumably slugging. Hal Toenes (19-10, 3.83) was second in the league in wins while Bob Costello (14-5, 3.31) was 5th in ERA. The club did not return in '39 and Rogers has not had a professional baseball team since.
