Biographical Information

Right-hander Hal Toenes spent ten active seasons in professional baseball from 1937 to 1951.

He served as a Master Sergeant in the U S Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 during World War II.

Toenes spent ten days in the major leagues with the Washington Senators from September 17 to September 27, 1947. He appeared in three games, giving up eleven hits and five runs and he pitched six and two-thirds innings, losing his only decision.

Toenes spent the balance of his ten seasons in the minor leagues and had five double-digit winning seasons - 1938, 1940, 1941, 1946, and 1947. His best record came in 1940 with the DeLand Red Hats of the Florida State League, when he went 26-13 with a 2.99 ERA while pitching 313 innings.

Toenes left baseball in 1951 with a minor league career 113-110 record, appearing in 340 games and 1,893 innings.
