Biographical Information[edit]

Rodrigo Ayarza has played in the minors and for the Panamanian national team.

He was signed originally by Texas Rangers scout Eduardo Thomas Sr. in July 2011. [1] He hit .205/.306/.273 for the 2012 DSL Rangers, fielding .983 at 2B. In 2013, he hit much better for the team (.309/.387/.545) but fielded .959 in a backup role at second. Let go by Texas, he was signed by the Houston Astros. He split 2014 between the DSL Astros Orange and DSL Astros Blue, hitting a combined .274/.387/.359 with 40 walks in 61 games, driving in 42 and stealing 13 bases in 18 tries. He was used primarily in left field that year. He was one RBI shy of making the Dominican Summer League top ten.

In 2015, he played for the GCL Astros (.196/.229/.283 in 16 G) and Greeneville Astros (.292/.286/.438 in 16 G). He spent most of '16 with the Tri-City ValleyCats, hitting .260/.293/.373 as a 3B/2B while also going 1 for 5 for the Corpus Christi Hooks. During 2017, he was with the Buies Creek Astros (.233/.282/.349 in 41 G) and Quad Cities River Bandits (.316/.345/.544 in 37 G) in a utility role.

He played short for the Adelaide Bite in the 2017-2018 Australian Baseball League, producing at a .292/.324/.476 clip with 35 runs in 40 games. He tied Chih-Sheng Lin for 9th in the ABL in runs and tied for 6th with 11 doubles. He signed with the Miami Marlins for 2018 and played for the Jupiter Hammerheads (.205/.307/.265 in 43 G) and Greensboro Grasshoppers (.231/.286/.436 in 14 G). He played for Panama in the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier, going 1 for 4 with a run. [2]
