Biographical Information[edit]

Rodolfo Bone has played in the minors and for the Nicaraguan national team.

Bone hit .272/.339/.430 for San Fernando in Nicaragua in 2017. [1] Signed by the San Francisco Giants, he had a fine offensive debut as a pro with the DSL Giants in 2018 (.317/.416/.429) though he had 9 passed balls in 21 games. He then made Nicaragua's squad for the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier. Backing up Melvin Novoa, he got into one game as Nicaragua won a spot in the 2019 Pan American Games. Entering late in a 10-3 loss to the Dominican national team, he was retired by Huascar Brazoban in his lone at-bat and had both an error and passed ball. [2]

He batted .240/.300/.340 for the 2019 AZL Giants Orange and threw out 44% of those who tried to steal. The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic; that also canceled the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (he had been on Nicaragua's announced roster). [3] He hit .238/.296/.413 for the 2021 San Jose Giants, playing error-free defense as their #3 backstop. In 2022, he batted .158/.193/.246 for the Eugene Emeralds, backing up Patrick Bailey behind the dish.

Backing up Novoa again, this time in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he got into one game. He replaced Novoa in a 12-0 win over Pakistan. He was hit by Amaan Khan and later came around to score. He popped up against Atif Ahmad his other trip to the plate. Nicaragua won a spot in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic. [4]
