Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Roberto Espinosa played five seasons in the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system, hitting .198/.323/.263 and making his living with his glove, throwing out 39% of those who tried to steal. After completing his playing career, he worked in various capacities in the Cardinals player development system and with the major league club.

Espinoza was scheduled to return to Johnson City to manage in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. He worked at the Cardinal's alternate training site for part of the summer, then on August 15th the Cardinals promoted him to coach in St. Louis after Willie McGee opted not to coach due to the pandemic. Espinoza returned to managing in the minors in 2021.
