Biographical Information[edit]

Robert Perez hit .280/.379/.320 as the cleanup hitter for the Tigres de Aragua in the 2008 Caribbean Series. A decade after he had last played in the majors, he signed with Novara in the 2011 Italian Baseball League. He hit .293/.338/.427 as a 1B-OF, not finishing close to the top 10 in any key department.

Through 2013-2014, he was second in Venezuelan League history in seasons played (26, 4 behind Vic Davalillo), second in hits (1,369, 136 shy of Davalillo), first in at-bats (4,817, 190 more than Davalillo), second in games played (1,277, 5 behind Davalillo), first in homers (124, three more than Eliezer Alfonzo, who would likely pass him with time; he broke Tony Armas Sr.'s record of 97), third in runs (623, behind Davalillo and César Tovar) and 1st in RBI (736, over 100 ahead of Tovar's old record). He had been MVP in both 1995-1996 and 2006-2007 (joining Luis Sojo and Roberto Zambrano as the first two-time MVPs), Rookie of the Year in 1989-1990, Finals MVP in 2001-2002 and Comeback Player of the Year in 2006-2007. He also played in ten Caribbean Series, and was among the top 10 in Series history in hits and homers when he was inducted into the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame in the 2023 class with Ramón Hernández, Luis Raven and José Antero Núñez.
