Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Rick Powalski was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 34th Round of the 1996 amateur draft out of Central Catholic High School in Clearwater, FL. He spent two seasons, 1997 and 1998, with the Cubs organization before being released. Over the next 4 years, Rick bounced around affiliated and independent baseball. He played in the Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Cleveland Indians organizations and also pitched in the Western League, All-American Association, and the Central Baseball League. He was the All-American Association's Pitcher of the Year in 2001 with the Albany Alligators.
