Biographical Information[edit]

Rich Arena has been a scout and a minor league coach.

Arena was a coach at Tampa Catholic High School in 1986-1987 and head coach at Tampa Preparatory School in later 1987. One source listed him as the head coach in 1988 which is probable.

Arena was a scout and minor league coach for the New York Yankees from 1989-2006. He was a coach for the Oneonta Yankees in 1989, Greensboro Hornets in 1990, GCL Yankees in 1991-1992, Prince William Cannons in 1993, and Tampa Yankees in 1996.

Arena returned to Tampa Catholic in 2007 as their head coach and stayed through the 2009 season. His overall record with the Crusaders was 53-18. In 2010-2011, he was director of scouting for Team One Management, an agency representing players.

The Miami Marlins hired Arena in 2012 to coach hitters for the Jamestown Jammers. The next season he was initially scheduled to be the hitting coach for the Batavia Muckdogs, but served as the third base coach & assistant hitting coach for the Jacksonville Suns instead. Arena stayed in this dual role in 2014 before taking over hitting coach duties for Jacksonville in 2015-2016.

Arena may have moved back to the Yankees in 2017 as one source mentioned he coached the DSL Yankees that year, but this could not be confirmed. Arena worked as the GCL Yankees West hitting coach in 2018.

According to Arena's linkedIn page, he spent the next three years as a special assignment scout for the Marlins.[1] This role was confirmed for 2021. In 2022 Arena was a defensive coach for the FCL Marlins.

Arena left organized baseball in late 2022 and created his own company called Arena Baseball Consulting which he continued to run through 2024.
